EirGrid halted new Dublin connections, possibly until 2028; applications outside Dublin considered individually.

What this evidence bears on

• Supports: A limit can be regional instead of total. Ireland's grid operator stopped new data center connections in the constrained Dublin area while still assessing applications elsewhere case by case.

  • A reason for “Leave it to grid operators and national rules: steer data centers to places with spare clean power instead of city by city decisions.”
